Clear Floats Without Structural Markup

When CSS was in it’s infant stages and each browser supported different features differently one nasty inherent bug was how float was handled across browsers.  To this day there are still inconsistencies across platforms but the tricks/hacks to get around them are not nearly as bad as they once where.
